Basic Life Support

Location: Carson

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is American Heart Association’s first responder CPR course. This covers all basic CPR certification needed for working in a hospital or medical care facility. If you are not a healthcare provider, you can still participate in this course! There is no pre course information necessary. It is designed to give you the fundamentals of CPR in a medical setting

* Classes are 8 hours, the recertification classes are 4  hours.

Continuing Education

Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Location: Carson

Pediatric Advanced Life Support is designed to provide the Healthcare Provider with knowledge on pediatric life saving skills. The students will be give case studies, walked through airway management systems and given the opportunity to practice codes on an infant and child in simulation. Students are required to take a pre course through their student manual, complete all course videos, sit for a written exam, and code case skills test.

* Classes are 8 hours, the recertification classes are 4  hours.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Location: Carson

Advanced Cardiac Life Support is an advanced course for Healthcare Providers who are involved in units or workplace situations that use advanced mega codes. The course is designed for the student to have a basic knowledge of cardiac drugs, basic rhythms and how to apply them in a critical situation. The students are required to take a pre course through their student manual, complete the coursework and sit for a written exam and megacode skills test.

* Classes are 8 hours, the recertification classes are 4  hours.

EMT 24-Hour Recertifying Course

Location: Carson

The 24-Hour recertifying course is an approved 24 hour CE-based refresher course for EMTs needing to recertify their state EMT card in California. This course includes the state required Skills Verification and a renewal of the AHA BLS Provider.

EMT Recertifying Skills Exam

Location: Carson

The recertifying skills exam is a skills evaluation of EMT skills required by the State of California required for recertification of a State EMT Card. Upon completion, students will receive their California State Skills Verification form ready for submission to the Licensing Agency of their choice.

Orange County Accreditation

Location: Carson

Students of this course will be taught the requirements and knowledge for all EMTs working in Orange County, CA. This course is applicable to all EMTs who did not receive their initial training in Orange County but plan to work as an EMT in Orange County. This course includes a classroom lecture and an opportunity to practice new skills in the skills lab.

LA County EMT Expanded Scope of Practice

Location: Carson

Students of this course will be taught the requirements and knowledge for all EMTs working in Los Angeles County, CA. This course is applicable to all EMTs who did no receiver their initial training in Los Angeles County but plan to work as an EMT in Los Angeles County. This course includes a classroom lecture and an opportunity to practice new skills in the skills lab.

Emergency Telecommunicator Certification

Location: Graden Grove

ETC certification is available to those successfully completing the Academy's 40-hour (minimum) Emergency Telecommunicator Course and achieving a passing score (80%) on the certification examination. Certification is valid for two years. Specifically, certification requires:

Certification is valid for two years unless revoked or suspended. Continued affiliation depends on your support of the Code of Ethics and accumulation of continuing dispatch education (CDE) credit. The following three steps summarize the renewal process:

Recertification as an ETC is required for those having ETC certification only. If you are certified as an EMD, EFD, or EPD, your ETC is automatically updated. If you are not certified as an EMD, EFD, or EPD, you will need to complete the following recertification requirements:

  1. You will receive written notification with instructions for on-line recertification. Recertification is an open book exam and must be passed with at least 80 percent. If 80 percent is not achieved, notification will be sent from the Academy with details for retesting.
  2. Submit verification of required CDE during the two-year recertification period.
  3. Submit your recertification fee of $20.00 (US currency), with the completed recertification application/exam. If you attend a certification or refresher course approved by the Academy, this fee is included in the course tuition. If you attend a 1-day course, the $20.00 recertification fee is required.

LA County Alternate Staffing for Inter-Facility ALS Transports

Location: Carson

Students of this course are taught the information required to know for working on an ALS ambulance in LA County. It includes a skills session of basic airway management and issue resolution. It is applicable to both Paramedics and EMTs that may operate in LA County as a 1 Paramedic: 1 EMT transport unit.

National Safety Council Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course III (Ambulance) [CEVO III]

Location: Carson

Students of this course are taught the importance of safely handling an emergency ambulance. This course offers a comprehensive coverage of collision-prevention techniques a safety related topics. Graduates receive a CEVO III Patch and certificate.
